Health Professional Day 2018
In early November 2018, CONNECT together with staff at the University Centre for Rural Health, had 57 senior students from 9 schools attend an interactive day learning about career pathways within the health industry.
This day began with students listening to a panel of university students completing their practical course competent at Lismore Base Hospital. These students shared their experiences, for example their attendance at university and balancing their studies with work commitments and social life.
The students also heard from 3 health professionals who provided an insight to their industry and what a working day may entail for them.
In the afternoon the students participated in 5 practical hands-on workshops which included: Speech Pathology, Nutrition, Dietetics, Pathology, Suturing and Occupational Therapy.
They day was enjoyed by all who attended and it is hoped that a similar day will be held in 2019 in Term 4.
